Subject: Update on HRV (1-3-04)
|
All,
On Friday I had a meeting with the printer and so I thought I would sit
down and give you all an update on the progress on the publication of the
HRV.
First of all let me back up to tell you about another recent meeting a
few days ago (I do not recall the date) which I did not have time to
relate to you all earlier.
This was a meeting related to the binding and paper to be used.
Ken (the owner of the printing company) showed us samples of two
different kinds of paper we could use and two sample books.
Ken showed us a cheaper type of paper and a more expensive type of
paper. Ken warned us that the cheaper paper would yellow with time
and that the cheaper paper was less durable. I held each type of
paper up to the light and could see that unlike the cheaper paper the
higher quality paper was clearly reinforced by a tiny-criss cross pattern
in the fibers from which it was made. We want the HRV to be a high
quality product so we chose the higher quality of paper.
Ken also showed us a sample 8 1/2 x 11 book he had produced using this
paper and the same stitched binding we will use (however the sample was a
hard-bound volume not bonded-leather as the HRV is to be). (The
sample had only blank pages). Ken challenged us to lift this book
up by one page in the middle with the book opened up like wings.
The page was so secure and strong that it
supported the weight of the rest of the book without coming out of the
binding or tearing.
At the meeting this Friday we signed off officially on the paper and they
have now ordered enough paper for the job. This is a LOT of paper
since we are printing 10,000 copies in the first run and each copy has
almost 1,700 8 1/2 x 11 pages (the equivalent altogether of
eight and a half million 8 1/2 x 11
sheets if I have my math correct).
This is enough sheets, if placed end to end, to cover the distance
from earth to the space shuttle's orbit and back
four times and still have paper left over! Or enough
sheets placed end to end to reach from Dallas to
Denver and back!
Ken tells us it may take as long as three weeks (hopefully
less) to get this huge paper shipment and then the presses will begin to
roll on the HRV Bibles.
For more information on the HRV see the HRV website at:
http://www.hebraicrootsversion.com
We are raising the funds needed to pay the
very large printing costs for the Hebraic Roots Version of the Scriptures
Messianic Study Bible. This is a very important work. If
you have ever benefited from the work of SANJ and/or myself I am asking you
to strongly consider making a donation to help us meet this obligation.
If you can make a freewill donation in any amount
to support this work now is the time to do it. Many of you have told us how
blessed you have been by our work. Now is the time to return that blessing
if you can. I am convinced that this project is worthy of your support if
you have the support to give.
Anyone (in the US) who makes a donation
of $56.00 or more will receive (upon publication) a copy of the Hebraic Roots
Version of the Scriptures. (if outside the US see info below).
Anyone (in the US) who makes a donation of $100.00 or more will receive (upon publication) the HRV Scriptures AND the HRV Scriptures CD-ROM containing the HRV and all of the Hebrew and Aramaic source texts for the HRV in searchable form!
(if outside the US contact us about shipping costs).
Many of you have asked if you can still obtain the CD even if you have already
ordered the HRV. The answer is yes. If you already have an order in for the
HRV Bible and would like the DVD just make an additional donation of $50
or more to have the HRV CD added to your HRV order.
Also for those who only want the CD you can do that also for a donation of $50.00 or more.
We are willing to offer a “sweetheart deal” to anyone
willing and able to make a minimum donation of $1,000 and who are interested
in bulk quantities of the HRV. This offer is so good that it will only be extended to the first five persons who contact us.
Also anyone
willing or able to make an even larger contribution please contact us and
we will work out an even better "sweetheart deal" custom made for you.
If you have not already requested a copy of the HRV Complete Bible (for a minimum donation of $56 including shipping)
you may want to get your request in now as THIS PRE-PUBLICATION OFFER WILL
BE ENDING SOON and the minimum donation will then go up to $75 including
shipping. (Pre-publication requests will be shipped upon publication.).
You can obtain your copy minimum donation of $50.00 plus $6.00 Shipping &
handling (in the USA); $10.00 in Canada and Mexico and $15.00 overseas. (Items
are sent out as appreciation gifts for your donations)
