HRV Errors Page
The follwing links are to pages showing the errors
of James Trimm's supposed translation.
Points to consider about James supposed translation:
- James does not transliterate the names from the Peshitta, an Aramaic text,
he uses an Ashkenaz Hebrew from Stern's Complete Jewish Bible. For example,
Yesh`yahu should be Eshaya; Yerushalayim - Urishlem; Andrew - Andreos; Levi
bar Alphaeus - Lewiy bar Chalfay. This is done consistently throughout his
HRV. As in the case of Andrew and Alphaeus, he did not even use the Hebrew
or Aramaic, but chose to leave them as they were in the Way translation.
- James constantly goes on about not using Greek terms, that this is not a
Greek text, yet he chose to use the Greek term synagogue where the Aramaic
and Hebrew use kenushath/kenesiyoth [the plural version of kenesseth], just
as the Way translators used synagogue. Examples : Mark 1:21, 1:23, 1:29, and
3:1.
- James used the English, singular of heaven, just as the Way did. If they
used heavens, he did as well. The only problem is that Hebrew and Aramaic
are Semitic languages. Shamayim [heavens] is not a singular word in either
language, it is always plural. John Wesley Etheridge, James Murdock [old translations]
translated it properly. The English of the church typically uses the singular.
I do not know much Aramaic but I do understand some basics, since it is similar
to Hebrew. These are just a few of the examples that jumped right out at me.
As I acquire more refutations of the HRV by the experts, I will post them.
