I said earlier that those were my last words but there were some unanswered
               questions:

There were two questions I was asked:

               1.  Our moderator asked me what the Book of Mormon asks one to believe in.

A: Messiah Yeshua; his death for our sins; repentance
                       (2Ne. 4:-6b; 26:27; Alma 22:14a; 2Ne. 10:24)

               2.  Levy (I think it was) asked what pupose does the Book of Mormon serve?

He stated that if it conflicted with the Bible it was wrong and that if it
did not it added nothing new and was useless.  Of course we could single out
any one book of the Bible and say the same thing.

The answer of the question of the purpose of the book is on the title page:

                       The Book of Mormon

An account written by the hand of Mormon,
upon plates taken from the plates of Nephi.

Wherefore, it is an abridgement of the record of Nephi,
                         and also of the Lamenites--

                               A. Written to the Lamenites, who are a remnant of
                                  the House of Israel,

                               B. and also to the Jew and Gentile--

                       Written by way of commandment,
and also by the spirit of prophecy and of revelation--

                               C. Written and sealed up,
                               D. and hid unto the Lord, that they might not be
                                  destroyed--
                               E. To come forth by the gift and the power of God
                               F. unto the interpretation thereof--

                               C. Sealed by the hand of Moroni
                               D. and hid up unto the Lord,
                               E. to come forth in due time by way of the Gentile
                               F. The interpretation thereof by the gift of God.

(An abridgement taken from the Book of Ether also, which
is a record of the people of Jared,  who were scattered
at the time the Lord confounded the language of the people,
when they were building a tower to get to heaven.)

                               A. Which is to show unto the remnant of the House
of Israel what great things the Lord has done
for their fathers; and that they may know the
covenants of the Lord, that they are not cast
                                  off forever.

                               B. And also to the convincing of the Jew and Gentile
that Yeshua is the Messiah, the Eternal God,
                                  manifesting himself unto all nations--

                       And now, if there are faults they are the mistakes of men;
wherefore, condemn not the things of God,
that you may be found spotles at the judgement-seat of
                       Messiah.
