Subject:  [losttribes] Scripture Restoration

Shalom Chaverim,

Great progress has been made in recent years in the area of Restoring the original Hebrew/Aramaic
"New Testament" to the public.  For me this has been a journey that began some 17 years ago.  When I first came to accept Yeshua as the Messiah at the age of 18 (prior to which I had practiced Rabbinic Judaism) I knew that our (Jewish) people did not write religious literature in Greek during the first century.  I set out on a trek to discover any viable Hebrew or Aramaic NT manuscripts.  I soon found that my theory of a Semitic original for the New Testament was more than a hypothesis but was a fact for which full verification was available.  I soon uncovered the existence of ancient Aramaic manuscripts of most of the New Testament (except for 2Pt.; 2&3 Jn. and Jude) and some Hebrew copies of Matthew (and more recently Hebrew Hebrews).

In 1990 I published my first edition of Hebrew (DuTillet) Matthew.  In 1996 I first laid out the overwhelming evidence in support of a Hebrew/Aramaic Original of the New Testament in my book THE SEMITIC ORIGIN OF THE NEW TESTAMENT.  Just last year, after several years of work and a great deal of encouragement from a growing body of supporters of this idea I published the HEBRAIC-ROOTS VERSION of the New Testament, a new Messianic translation of the New Testament taken from these Hebrew and Aramaic manuscripts with a detailed introduction and with 1738 footnotes. (see http://www.nazarene.net/hrv )

The release of the HRV New Testament last year led to criticism from certain quarters.  Did not this new theory of Hebrew/Aramaic NT origins ignore an entire body of Greek NT Textual Criticism which "proves" a Greek origin for the New Testament?  In response to this new line of criticism I have begun posting an on-line book on Hebrew/Aramaic Textual Criticism which answers these objections and raises the bar a notch further.  This new book shows how Hebrew Matthew and the Old Syriac Gospels agree closely with the oldest most primitive Greek text type (which I show to be the so-called "Western" type of Codex D).  I show that this Greek text type is filled with Semitisms and can be plainly shown to be a translation from the original Aramaic represented in the Old Syriac Aramaic Version.  I further demonstrate how the other Greek text types represent a revision of this primitive Greek away from the awkward Semitic grammar and idiom of the Western text toward a more pleasing Greek idiom.  (you can see it by going to http://www.nazarene.net/hantri and clicking on "Hebrew/Aramaic Textual Criticism)

Our position is not a flimsy, whimsical, populist notion which breaks down under more detailed scholarly examination.  It is not the musings of armchair scholars.  It is a detailed comprehensive system which is defendable on even the highest of academic levels.

Yet this is only the beginning.  This is only the laying of a foundation.  Now the building can begin.

So what is next?

Printed editions of the actual Hebrew and Aramaic texts in a single volume.  This is especially needed for Messianic/Nazarene scholars and leaders as well as for the believers in Israel.

Concordances and interlinear editions keyed to word numbers (and cross keyed to Strong's word numbers) for use by the layman.

A new generation of commentaries and other books which will include word studies from original Hebrew and Aramaic text of the New Testament.

And this is just the tip of the iceberg.

But to accomplish all of these things we need your help.
