First of all I want to notify everyone (in case anyone has missed this)
after 10 years of work, the HRV (Hebraic Roots Version) translation is
DONE! The seven proofreaders will also be done proofreading by Friday
(2/9/01). I will then spend the next week making final revisions based on
the proofreading. The finished work will then go to the printer by Friday
the 16th 2001 (my birthday). We are allowing a week for the printing and
binding and expect to have the books in hand (with a nice "fake-leather"
binding) by 2/23/01. (For more info on the HRV go to
http://www.nazarene.net/hrv).
BUT WE STILL NEED YOUR HELP. In order to fund the first printing of the
Hebraic Roots Version on schedule we need to raise an additional $13,000 by
the 23rd. If you can send us ANY AMOUNT that will help us bridge the gap
to fund the first printing PLEASE DO SO. We believe the HRV will have a
huge impact on the movement, please help us make it a reality.
I am reminded of an old Jewish midrash. From his deathbed the Patriarch
Jacob called his twelve sons to him asking them each to bring a
stick. When they had come to him Jacob asked his sons to tie all the
sticks in a bundle. Then Jacob asked them to each try to break the bundle
of sticks. Having passed the bundle around they each failed to break
it. Then Jacob told them to loose the bundle, pass the individual sticks
around, and attempt to break them individually. This time they all were
successful.
I cannot break this bundle of sticks alone, but if I loose the bundle and
pass the sticks around we may break them together with ease. So I am
asking you to each take a stick from the bundle that together we may
accomplish this task.
