To the members of the Beit Din. I am writing to ask what the Beit Din
determines a Jew to be, from birth. Please be specific. For example, do
you consider a Jew from birth to be a person whose mother was a Jew, or
do you consider a person whose father was a Jew to be one, or both? Do
you consider a person who had one grandparent on one side or both to be
Jewish, or must it be a maternal grandmother? Shalom, Kathryn
